Our Day Service supports service users to develop life skills, enabling individuals to lead fulfilling and quality lives as independently as possible.

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Cook that can work in a busy/demanding kitchen maintaining excellent food hygiene standards, to prepare, and deliver high-quality, nutritious lunches that meet the diverse dietary, cultural, and health needs of service users in a Day Service.
To apply for this role it is essential that applicants have:
- Minimum 2 years catering experience working within a day service/residential or similar setting.
- Food Safety Level 2 Qualification / or higher catering qualification
- The right to work in the U.K. for an extensive period of time.
- Able to work Monday Tuesday Thursday 9.30 am to 2.30 pm
- The ability to run the kitchen in the absence of the main Cook
- Able to work under pressure and remain organised
- Work / Life experience of individuals with learning difficulties / autism.
Successful applicants will require an Enhanced DBS and two references before they can commence work.
What the role involves:
- To follow a healthy and nutritious menu suitable for various dietary needs
- Prepare balanced, nutritious, and tasty meals for service users that meet the dietary, medical, cultural, and specialist needs of service users and minimise waste.
- Maintain excellent Food Hygiene and Health and Safety standards, allergy and dietary management
- Ensure kitchen areas are set up, cleaned, and maintained to meet food hygiene, health, and safety standards, supporting infection control and safe food handling.
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently and report any faults / hazards
- Ensure all paperwork and records for kitchen / food preparation are maintained.
- Monitor stock levels and assist the main Cook in the preparation of food orders.
- Ensure accurate records of food safety, cleaning, and temperature checks.
- Ensuring kitchen and equipment is kept clean and tidy and all items washed up after lunch
- Complete specific training as required
- Adhere to Trinity Respite Services policies and procedures
- Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive environment, adhering to safeguarding, equality diversity and inclusion
- When the main Cook is absent it is expected that you will take the lead in certain aspects of the job role
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required.
