Pay Rate: £95 - £110 per day (DOE)

Are you passionate about supporting young people and using your experience in coaching, youth work, mentoring or support roles to help them succeed? Chalk Education is working with a specialist SEMH provision with multiple sites across Greater Manchester, including Stockport, Bolton and Salford. The school offers a supportive and structured environment for pupils who have faced barriers in mainstream education. With a strong focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), they aim to rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and re-engage learners with education.

Your role as a Behaviour Mentor
- Deliver 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Help pupils develop emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Act as a consistent, trusted role model
- Support the reinforcement of routines, expectations, and individual plans
- Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
- Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to track progress and outcomes
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need prior school-based experience to be successful in this role. This opportunity is ideal for individuals from backgrounds such as youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or support work who are looking to transition into education. The ideal candidate will:
- Remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations
- Build strong, positive relationships with young people
- Demonstrate resilience, empathy, and adaptability
- Be motivated to develop a long-term career in education
- Be willing and able to travel between multiple sites if required
Essential requirements
- References confirming suitability to work with children
- Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
