We have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Manager based at our Lostock, Bolton offices offering hybrid working.
Working alongside the Project Manager as a key part of the overall project team, you will liaise with the design teams and Client teams to obtain the necessary construction information required to complete the connection design, detailing, fabrication, and erection of all steelwork and secondary packages within our scope of works.

Vacancy Details
In the Technical Manager position, you will coordinate and manage connection design and Drawing Office activities within a project. You will assist the Project Manager in organising and managing projects safely and efficiently, within budget and to programme, consistent with Company Procedures, good practice, and statutory legislation within our contractual obligations.
- Assist all internal departments involved in the project to ensure its successful delivery.
- Liaise with all relevant parties as required (i.e. the Client, Client’s professional team, main contractor, subcontractors and in-house departments) to ensure any issues are resolved and that information is obtained and issued to meet progressive deadlines in accordance with the programme.
- Ensure all information provided by the Drawing Office is delivered on time and to the required standard for other disciplines within the company.
- Liaise with the commercial department to record and evaluate variations to the contracted scope of works.
- Ensure that any special requirements to facilitate the safe fabrication and erection of all components are identified, including temporary works and associated attachments.
- Raise RFIs / technical queries with the Client team (and their architectural and engineering representatives) for clarification and requests for additional information where required.
- Manage the activities and quality of work produced by the Drawing Offices to ensure drawings and models are delivered on programme and in the required formats.
- Maintain clear communication with project teams, including producing progress reports for the activities under your control, identifying the stage of the project and any key risks.
- Collate information from all relevant trades, bringing it together and filtering appropriately to enable the wider team to carry out their work effectively.
- Previous experience in structural steel.
- Highly organised, self-motivated and driven to contribute positively to the successful delivery of a project.
- Strong communication, IT and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise workload to meet project demands.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- A good working knowledge of the design and construction principles of structural steelwork.
- An understanding of good detailing practice and the production of clear, unambiguous drawing information in an efficient and productive manner.
- Strong attention to detail, alongside the ability to see the bigger picture – the Technical Manager role is key to ensuring the successful delivery of a project, with emphasis on safety, quality, budget and programme.
