Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Goods In Operative to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the receipt, inspection, and storage of incoming goods, ensuring smooth and efficient warehouse operations. Responsibilities
- Receive and check deliveries against purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely to load, unload, and move goods
- Utilise warehouse management systems (WMS) such as AS400 to record stock movements accurately
- Handle materials efficiently, including stocking shelves and preparing goods for dispatch
- Assist with picking and packing orders for shipment, maintaining high standards of accuracy
- Manage shipping and receiving documentation in compliance with company procedures
- Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies or damages promptly
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, including stock management and materials handling
- Mechanical knowledge beneficial for troubleshooting equipment issues
- Experience with forklift operation and other warehouse machinery (training provided if necessary)
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems such as AS400 or similar platforms
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during stock movement tasks
- Construction or similar experience advantageous for understanding materials handling processes
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in stock control and documentation
- Good communication skills to work effectively within a team environment
