Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home - 4 bed EBD
£16.50 per hour | Full-Time | 160 Hours per Month + Sleep-Ins
An experienced Deputy Manager is required for a 4 bed Children’s Residential Home, supporting the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality care within a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
The Role
The Deputy Manager plays a key role in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of care, compliance, and staff performance.
- Support the Registered Manager in operational leadership
- Lead shifts and oversee staff practice and performance
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, person-centred care
- Monitor and review assessment placements and outcomes
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment
- Liaise with external professionals and agencies
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and safeguarding standards
Key Responsibilities
- Support with staff supervision, guidance, and development
- Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and reviews
- Produce and oversee detailed, evidence-based reports
- Monitor child development, behaviours, and outcomes
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and placement plans are followed
- Step up in the absence of the Registered Manager
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care (minimum)
- (Level 5 or working towards is desirable)
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in residential childcare
- Experience in a senior or leadership role
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to manage challenging situations confidently and effectively
- Desirable:
- Experience in a similar setting
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and complex needs
- Experience supporting challenging behaviours and mental health
Pay and Benefits
- £16.50 per hour
- Contracted 160 hours per month
