Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Years Room Leader to oversee and support the development of children within our nursery setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with young children. This role involves creating a nurturing environment that promotes early childhood education, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in your care. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading a team of childcare professionals, planning engaging activities, and maintaining high standards of care in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Duties
- Lead and manage a team of nursery staff, providing guidance and support to ensure effective daily operations
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities that promote children's development across all areas
- Monitor and assess children's progress, maintaining detailed records for each child's developmental milestones
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that encourages learning through play
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and early years frameworks
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding their child's progress, behaviour, and any concerns
- Organise staff rotas, oversee daily routines, and ensure high standards of childcare are maintained at all times
- Contribute to the ongoing development of nursery policies and procedures to enhance quality standards
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children within a nursery or early years setting, ideally in a leadership role
- Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childcare regulations in the UK
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care or equivalent recognised qualification
- Experience in managing or supervising staff members within a childcare environment
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting children or attending external meetings or training sessions
