Main duties and responsibilities
1. Routine correspondence: answering phone calls, answerphone messages, and emails (including sending out parish mailings).
2. Document production: producing weekly service sheets and other printed materials (monthly parish newsletter; posters; notices, etc.)
3. Bookings: manage bookings for the church and Parish Centre.
4. General administration: supporting the smooth running of the church and parish office.
5. Filing: maintain an efficient filing system for documentation and ensure databases are kept in good order.
6. Health and safety: to exercise general oversight of health and safety, and to have a basic First Aid qualification.
7. Banking: assisting with weekly cash banking.

Person specification
Essential qualities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including basic graphic design skills, e.g. for producing posters).
- Dealing with a wide range of people sensitively and tactfully, on the phone and in person.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage one’s own workload, to prioritise tasks accordingly, and to respond with flexibility to changing priorities.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, appropriately managing requests from both staff and volunteers.
- Confidence working with a range of IT software.
- Maintaining confidentiality and discretion at all times (including adherence to Data Protection legislation).
Desirable qualities:
- Experience of working in an administration role, and especially previous experience of being a Parish Administrator.
- Experience of church communities, and familiarity with the Church of England.
Pay: £16,640.00 per year
