Age Concern Hampshire has an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Day Care Manager based at our Frogmore Care and Wellbeing Centre. You will join us on a part time or full time basis (30/37 hours per week, (08.30 to 16.30), you must be available to work on a Wednesday. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £14.03 per hour.
This role is a 3 month fixed term contract

Assistant Day Care Manager
The Care and Wellbeing Assistant Manager supports the Centre Manager in the day-to-day leadership, coordination and operational delivery of the day care centre. The post-holder will help ensure the provision of a high-quality, person-centred service that promotes the wellbeing, dignity and independence of older adults while also providing meaningful respite and support to their families and carers.
The Assistant Manager will support the supervision and development of the staff team, assist with maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and organisational standards, and work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, families, carers and the wider community.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Day Care Service Provision and Management
- Support the Centre Manager with the recruitment, induction, supervision and development of centre staff and volunteers.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to staff, promoting a positive, inclusive and supportive team culture.
- Assist with staff rotas, absence reporting and day-to-day performance matters in line with organisational policies.
- Act as a role model for best practice in dementia care and professional conduct.
- Support the daily running of the day care centre, helping to ensure consistent delivery of a safe, welcoming and stimulating programme of activities.
- Assist with implementing operational policies and procedures in line with current legislation, best practice and organisational standards.
- Help monitor the quality and effectiveness of the service, sharing feedback from service users, families and staff with the Centre Manager.
- Support the effective use of centre resources and assist with petty cash and routine administrative processes where required.
- Maintain and upload accurate records to the CRM system, including risk assessments, attendance registers, care plans and incident reports.
Person-Centred Care
- Champion a person-centred approach in all aspects of service delivery, treating each individual with dignity, respect and compassion.
- Support the development, review and implementation of individual care and support plans in partnership with service users, their families and relevant professionals.
- Help plan and deliver meaningful cognitive stimulation and wellbeing activities.
- Monitor the health, wellbeing and changing needs of service users, escalating concerns promptly to the Centre Manager or Head of Operations as appropriate.
- Respond sensitively and promptly to concerns, complaints or safeguarding disclosures, following organisational and statutory procedures.
Safeguarding and Risk Management
- Support the Centre Manager in maintaining robust safeguarding practice and ensuring staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities.
- Help maintain a safe environment for service users, staff and visitors, supporting health and safety checks, audits and risk assessments.
- Report and support the management of incidents, near misses and accidents in accordance with organisational policy.
- Ensure food hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
- Assist with transport arrangements and related safety requirements where required.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with service users' families and carers, communicating effectively and supporting their involvement in care planning.
- Support partnerships with doctors' surgeries, social workers, community health teams, community support groups and community organisations.
- Assist with promoting the centre's services to potential referrers and contribute to marketing activity, including content for the Centre Facebook page and other social media platforms.
- Identify and share opportunities for client growth, improved service delivery and continuous improvement.
A Driving licence and willingness to travel around Hampshire is essential for this role.
