Technical Applications Engineer
Location: Retford
Pay Rate: £39,000 - £41,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm / 39 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
We are currently recruiting for a Technical Applications Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Retford.
This is a technically focused role supporting both engineering and commercial teams, helping translate customer requirements into technical solutions while also assisting with project costings and quotations.
You will act as a technical bridge between customers, engineering and internal sales teams, ensuring solutions are technically accurate and commercially viable.
This role combines elements of application engineering, technical support and estimating.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Application Support
- Provide technical support to sales teams and customers
- Interpret customer specifications, drawings and technical requirements
- Assist in developing suitable product or engineering solutions
- Produce technical documentation and application specifications
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical or quality issues
Costing & Estimating
- Analyse project requirements and prepare cost estimates and quotations
- Research costs including materials, labour, tooling and equipment
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to gather accurate costing data
- Support bid preparation and commercial proposals
Engineering & Project Support
- Liaise with design engineers and production teams to ensure solutions meet technical requirements
- Assist with 3D modelling or CAD work where required
- Review technical drawings and specifications
- Support internal teams throughout the quotation and project lifecycle
Candidate Requirements
- Engineering qualification or technical background (degree or equivalent preferred)
- Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Some experience with estimating, quotations or costing projects
- CAD or 3D modelling software experience is needed
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal teams and customers
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Industry experience within manufacturing, industrial engineering, sealing, rubber, polymer or similar sectors would be beneficial but is not essential.
