We are excited to be opening a brand-new preschool at St James’ Church, Pokesdown – Tiny Seeds Preschool – and we are looking for a passionate and dedicated Early Years SENCO / Practitioner to join our team.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the ethos and inclusive practice of Tiny Seeds Preschool from the very beginning. The Role
As the Early Years SENCO / Practitioner at Tiny Seeds Preschool, you will play a key role in identifying children who require additional support and ensuring inclusive practice across the setting.
You will also work as a key person, taking responsibility for a group of children, building strong relationships with them and their families, and supporting their individual learning and development.
The preschool will be open to children from 8:30am to 3:30pm, with staff hours extending beyond these times to allow for set-up, preparation, and pack-away responsibilities. Working from 8:00-4:00 with an unpaid break.
Your responsibilities will include:
Key person and supporting in the moment planning to extend and support children’s learning and development.
Identifying children who require additional support and ensuring early intervention
Working closely with staff to adapt the curriculum so every child can progress
Acting as a key person, building secure attachments with children and supporting their development
Leading and supporting 1:1 or small group interventions for children with additional needs
Writing reports and developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Working collaboratively with external professionals (e.g., speech therapists, health visitors, SEND services)
Supporting and guiding colleagues to deliver high-quality inclusive practice
This role is ideal for someone with strong experience supporting children with additional needs, excellent knowledge of child development, and a passion for inclusive early years education.
What We’re Looking For
Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
Ability to support the team to lead our exciting curriculum explored through in the mom Excellent communicator with staff, families and children.
SENCO qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
Experience of working with children 2-5 years.
Strong experience supporting children with additional needs
Excellent ability to identify children who require additional support and tailor learning accordingly
Experience working as a key person within an Early Years setting
Good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Experience leading and supporting staff in delivering 1:1 intervention
Ability to write reports and Individual Education Plans (IEPs), assessment and reports.
Experience working with external professionals
Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
A caring, patient, and inclusive approach
Leadership experience is desirable
