Job Overview
We are seeking a professional Class 2 C Driver HGV 17 Tonne day driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a 17-tonne HGV, primarily focusing on delivery and collection duties across various locations average of 10 - 12 drops per shift. This role can become permanent for the right candidate subject to a trial and start times are between 9am and 10am each day working Monday to Friday and this position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers to utilise their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. Truck is based near West Bromwich area.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 17-tonne HGV (HGV Class 2 C licence required) in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-journey checks on the vehicle to ensure it is roadworthy and compliant with legal standards
- Deliver goods to various clients and sites, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment, such as flatbeds when necessary
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and logbooks
- Maintain communication with the dispatch team regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered during routes
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including safe driving practices and securement of loads
- Assist with the organisation of deliveries to optimise routes and efficiency
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed vehicles or similar HGVs
- Strong driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with delivery driver roles is highly desirable
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and compliance requirements for HGV drivers
- Excellent organisational skills to manage schedules effectively
- Ability to operate flatbeds or specialised loading equipment as needed
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members
- Physically fit to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
