Production Technician (Multi-skilled)
We are looking for a skilled Production Technician to join our production team.
At Laser Wire Solutions we design and build precision laser-based systems used in demanding applications, including medical technology and high-value wire connections. This role would suit a technician who enjoys hands-on assembly, takes pride in workmanship, and wants to contribute to the build of high-quality, technically interesting machines.
This is a hands-on role covering the full range of mechanical and electrical machine assembly. You will work on standard builds using SOPs and work instructions, as well as customised systems built from engineering drawings, wiring schematics, and 3D models.
The work includes panel wiring, head unit assembly, cable harnessing, loom building, and electro-mechanical assembly across a range of precision machines following ISO19001 standards. You will also support Medical Device Component (MDC) manufacture following ISO13485 standards.
What you will be doing
- You will play an important role in building high-quality laser-based systems by:
- Mechanically and electrically assembling machines from SOPs, work instructions, wiring schematics, engineering drawings, and 3D models,
- Wiring electrical panels and head units to a high standard,
- Building cable harnesses and looms, including crimping, soldering, and ferrule termination,
- Carrying out fault-finding and diagnostics across mechanical and electrical systems,
- Maintaining 5S standards in the production area,
- Providing feedback and supporting quality, documentation, and process improvements,
- Providing competent cover for MDC production, including running builds to SOPs, quality control, and packing.
What makes this role important
This is a role where quality, accuracy, and consistency matter. The systems you help build are used in precise and demanding applications, so good workmanship is essential.
You will be trusted to work from technical documentation, solve problems during builds, and help make sure our machines are assembled correctly, efficiently, and to a high standard. Your contribution will be visible and valued.
What we are looking for
You will have solid hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly, machine building, panel wiring, or a similar manufacturing role.
You should be confident working from technical documentation and take pride in producing neat, accurate, reliable work. You are methodical, practical, and able to take ownership of your tasks from start to finish.
We are looking for someone capable, reliable, and consistent, someone who takes pride in doing the job properly.
What you will bring
You will ideally have:
- Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electro-mechanical Engineering,
- IPC 620 Wire Harness Assembly certified,
- Experience in electro-mechanical assembly, machine building, and panel wiring within a manufacturing environment,
- Good practical knowledge of crimping, soldering, cable harnessing, loom building, and electrical termination,
- Confidence working from engineering drawings, wiring schematics, work instructions, and 3D models,
- Experience building complex or customised systems from engineering models or schematics
- A strong focus on build quality, accuracy, and workmanship.
Working environment
This role is based on-site at LWS Headquarters and is not a remote working position.
The position is permanent and full-time, working 37 hours per week, with flexibility where the role requires it.
