Job Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Charity Shop Volunteers to support our Eastbourne charity shop. This role offers an opportunity to contribute positively to local wildlife while gaining valuable experience in retail, customer service, and administrative tasks. Volunteers will assist with daily shop operations, help customers, and support organisational activities, all within a friendly and supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service to enhance their shopping experience
- Assist with the organisation and display of donated items, ensuring the shop remains tidy and inviting
- Operate the till system accurately during sales transactions and handle cash or card payments responsibly
- Support stock management by receiving donations, recording items, and organising stockroom areas
- Provide general administrative support such as updating records
- Promote awareness of the charity’s mission and encourage community engagement
- Maintain health and safety standards within the shop environment
Requirements
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable manner
- Basic IT skills for handling simple administrative tasks and using shop systems
- Previous administrative experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to learn is key
- Reliable, organised, and able to work as part of a team or independently when required
- Passionate about supporting charitable causes and engaging with the community
- Ability to commit to scheduled shifts, maintaining punctuality and professionalism
- Over 18s
