Overview
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Warehouse/Trade Counter Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent service to customers, managing stock, and supporting daily operations within a busy trade counter environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, effective communication abilities, and a proactive attitude to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery. This position offers an engaging work environment where attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills are valued. FLT would be an advantage but not essential, Full driving license would also be an advantage but not essential.
Duties
- Greet customers courteously and provide professional assistance at the trade counter
- Process customer orders accurately using the point-of-sale system
- Assist customers with product selection, offering appropriate recommendations and upselling where suitable
- Manage stock levels, organise displays, and ensure the trading area remains tidy and well-presented
- Handle phone enquiries with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette
- Maintain clear communication with suppliers and internal teams to ensure stock availability
- Support merchandising efforts by arranging products attractively and efficiently
- Keep accurate records of transactions and customer interactions
- Support inventory management through regular stock checks and replenishment tasks
- Assist in general warehouse duties including receiving deliveries and organising storage areas
Experience
- Previous experience in a retail or trade counter environment is advantageous but not essential; full training will be provided
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts are required
- Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a busy environment
- Good time management skills to ensure prompt customer service and efficient workflow
- Knowledge of merchandising principles to enhance product presentation and maximise sales opportunities
- Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally over the phone
- Ability to work well within a team, demonstrating flexibility and a positive attitude towards colleagues and customers
Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
