Hours per week: 35 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

The Council’s procurement team will play the central role in guiding and advising other departments to achieve those twin objectives of achieving social value and value for money from all its procurement exercises.
The Procurement Officers will initially be responsible for delivering individual work streams within a procurement project . If not already qualified, you will be seeking qualified status and membership in the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).
You will possess a strong understanding of the Procurement process and will have been working as a Procurement Officer for a minimum of 12 months. Possession of CIPS qualification is highly desirable.
Key accountabilities:
- Support the Category Lead in providing advice and guidance on the procurement regulatory matters
- Be responsible for leading and managing the tendering and awarding of a portfolio of contracts
- Contribute to the development of a culture of performance management of contracts
- Assist in the development and promotion best practice in supplier relationship management to minimise risk
- In the absence of a Category Lead or Category Manager, attend and contribute to key Service Management team
- To contribute to producing decision-making reports
- Maintain and further develop knowledge of procurement legislation
- Analyse and interpret local, national and international market conditions and trends
- To lead and manage the end to end procurement exercises of contracts up to £500,000
- Develop practices which promote supplier relationship management
- Supervise the Procurement Support Officer
Key requirements:
- Public Sector procurement experience is highly desirable
- Experience of working within a large complex organisation is highly desirable
- Minimum of 12 months experience working as a Procurement Officer in the above environment(s)
- Completion of CIPS qualification is highly desirable
