A) Job Purpose:
1. To support and receive delegation from the manager as applicable to the role.
2. To be able to cover for the manager in her absence.
3. To ensure the provision of a high standard of care.
B) Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential:
1. A minimum of 3 years of a nursing background including working in homecare or care home
2. 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
3. The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
4. A commitment to working as a team player.
5. A commitment to personal professional development
6. Satisfactory DBS check
7. Satisfactory references
8. Required to be a driver
Desired:
8. Experience of working with older people/people with dementia/age related/complex care conditions
C) Main responsibilities
Self:
1. To work in a professional and flexible manner which supports the manager and the staff team to provide a high level of care.
2. To actively take part in learning opportunities and undertake training as and when required, to maintain a high level of skills and knowledge for yourself.
3. To be involved with recruitment and induction of employees including assessing competency .
4. To deliver training to the staff group using industry specific DVDs and support materials.
5. To attend, plan and deliver induction review/ supervision/appraisal sessions to review and reflect on your performance and that of the allocated staff group.
6. To allocate calls/visits as part of scheduling and rostering system
7. To always conduct yourself in a manner (even off duty) which does not misrepresent the organisation or undermine its public and professional standing.
8. To have made yourself and the staff group familiar with and understand the key elements of the organisations policies and procedures.
9. To maintain strict confidentiality in and outside of the home
Communication:
1. To communicate effectively and respectfully to senior management, staff, visitors, outside professionals and clients
2. To attend and participate in staff meetings
3. To attend and or delegate appropriately any reviews or meetings relating to client care
4. To ensure correct maintenance of professional records of the care provided
D) Law and Guidance:
1. To make yourself familiar with and keep up to date with the key aspects of legislation and guidance – particularly:
i. the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (regulated activities regulations 2014)
ii. The Mental Capacity Act 2005 (and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards)
E) Quality Monitoring:
1. You will be responsible for certain monitoring of the quality of the service and systems, and where any fault has been identified you will report the matter to the Manager.
2. You will be responsible for those in house audits as specified by the manager to comply with Quality Assurance requirements.
3. You will ensure that evidence of outcomes is recorded where applicable.
4. You will prompt staff where issues have been missed in relation to their performance or responsibilities.

1. To respond to clients in a respectful manner
2. To enable, support and empower each client to reach and maintain their full potential.
3. To support clients to maintain the lifestyle of their choosing.
4. To ensure the staff group carry out the activities to a high standard.
5. To contribute to the assessment of client’s needs and contribute to the development and review of the care plans.
6. To ensure the provision of a high standard of personal care and support; this may include social activities, intimate care, incontinence, confusion, behaviours, end of life by conducting reviews and spot checks.
