Job Title: Children's Support Worker – Merthyr Tydfil

Key Responsibilities:
- Support children and young people with daily activities and interests, fostering independence and confidence.
- Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips to support children in various activities, from outdoor adventures to leisure outings.
- Promote a safe environment by understanding and following care plans and safeguarding procedures.
- Manage challenging behaviours using approved behaviour management techniques and early intervention strategies.
- Build trusting relationships with children, supporting their emotional and practical needs.
- Participate in training, including restraint training, and stay updated on best practices in social care.
- Support children during activities such as baking, climbing, or weekends away, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times.
Requirements:
- Minimum of six months’ experience working with children or within a social care setting.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- DBS check on the update service, covering both children and adults.
- Willingness to attend restraint training (TMVA or equivalent).
- Empathetic, resilient, and caring nature with a genuine desire to support vulnerable children.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
