East Kilbride, G74 4QD

About Asbestos Building Surveys Ltd
Asbestos Building Surveys Ltd (ABS) is a UKAS accredited asbestos consultancy based in East Kilbride, operating across Scotland. We deliver the full spectrum of asbestos consultancy services including asbestos survey, sampling and bulk analysis for a wide range of commercial, public sector and private clients.
We pride ourselves on a professional, supportive and collaborative culture, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy and long-term client relationships. Our staff turnover is exceptionally low — because we treat our surveyors as trusted professionals, not production numbers.
Due to continued growth and internal progression, we are now seeking an Asbestos Surveyor to join our established team.
The Role
This is a varied, professional role offering exposure to both management and refurbishment/demolition surveys across a broad portfolio of property types. We deliberately avoid restricting surveyors to one survey type — keeping the role interesting, technically engaging and professionally rewarding.
You will report directly to the Operations Manager and will be supported by a collaborative operational and technical team.
While surveys are programmed for you, experienced surveyors are actively involved in scoping, planning and pricing input, ensuring surveys are realistic, safe and technically appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Management, Refurbishment and Demolition asbestos surveys in accordance with current legislation and guidance.
- Produce accurate, defensible asbestos survey reports using our tablet-based surveying system.
- Liaise professionally with clients, tenants and site representatives.
- Maintain full compliance with asbestos legislation, HSG guidance and company procedures.
- Accurately collect, label and record asbestos samples.
- Complete UKAS quality control and internal audit checks as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, templates and working practices.
- Identify potential future works and communicate appropriately with management (without compromising technical integrity).
- Provide ad-hoc operational support such as survey plan production or data assistance when required.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties in line with operational requirements.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- BOHS P402 qualified.
- Strong understanding of asbestos materials, building construction and health & safety terminology.
- High attention to detail and professional pride in report quality.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience using Alpha Tracker software.
- Experience across a wide variety of property types and survey scopes.
Why Join ABS?
Surveyors join ABS — and stay — because we offer:
- A genuine team culture: professional, supportive, collaborative and friendly.
- A focus on quality over volume — accuracy and defensibility matter here.
- Variety of work to avoid monotony and stagnation.
- Respect for your professional judgement.
- Flexibility and trust rather than pressure and micromanagement.
- A stable, growing UKAS consultancy with long-term clients.
We want our team to work with us, not feel worked by us.
Training & Development
For the right candidate, we can support further development including:
- P405
- Auditing / quality training
- Train-the-Trainer
- CPD support
Progression into technical, quality or auditing roles may be available in future depending on performance, interest and business needs.
