Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Assistant Manager to oversee daily operations within our retail environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate daily activities of the retail team to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage staff schedules, delegate tasks, and monitor performance to foster a motivated team environment.
- Support your Line Manager with HR duties such as recruitment and selection, performance appraisals (both formally and informally), counselling and disciplining employees (at appropriate level).
- Report to your Line Manager timely solutions to business issues at an operational level.
- Communicate and deliver operational information as required by your Line Manager for their operational meetings.
- Assist your Line Manager in highlighting potential opportunities for Succession Planning, such as timely opportunities for progression of the team.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and uphold hygiene standards across all areas to maintain a 5* Scores on the Doors rating.
- Ensure fresh, exceptional quality and accurate stock levels are always available to customers.
- Have strong stock system skills and knowledge.
- Ensure you remain up to date with current food and retailing trends.
- Deliver excellent customer service by addressing the customer needs promptly and professionally.
- Deliver training initiatives for team members, promoting best practices in retail and food handling.
- Control and manage costs and waste.
Experience
- Proven management experience within fresh food, retail or restaurant settings.
- Strong background in fresh food management.
- Experience in managing teams, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations applicable to fresh food retail establishments.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Flexibility to work varying shift patterns 5 days out of 7 including evenings and weekends across the business.
Pro rata pay, based on experience and contracted hours.
