AW Construction is a Folkestone-based construction company delivering a broad range of commercial construction projects across the South East of England and London. Our works are predominantly strip out, refurbishment, fit out and basic build in nature. Our clients include universities, shopping centres, housing associations, light industrial units and a wide range of public and private sector organisations.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an experienced Bid Writer & Compliance Manager to join our expanding team. Based at our Folkestone office, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the business's growth by helping secure new projects and frameworks, whilst ensuring the company's compliance systems, accreditations are effectively maintained and developed.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and organised individual who enjoys working across both bid writing and compliance functions within a growing construction business.
Key Responsibilities
Bid Writing
- Review tender documentation and coordinate compliant tender submissions.
- Write high-quality, persuasive responses to quality questions within tender documents
- Work closely with directors, estimators and operational teams to gather technical and project information, to incorporate into tender submissions
- Monitor tender portals and identify suitable opportunities aligned with the company's objectives.
- Maintain and develop bid libraries, case studies, CVs, policies and supporting documentation.
- Assist with bid strategies, presentations and business development initiatives.
- Track tender outcomes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Compliance
- Maintain company accreditations including Constructionline, CHAS, SafeContractor and other industry certifications.
- Support the review of company policies, procedures and compliance documentation.
- Support supply chain compliance, subcontractor approvals and due diligence processes.
- Ensure the business remains compliant with relevant legislation, industry standards and client requirements.
- Assist with sustainability and social value reporting where required.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in bid writing within the construction sector.
- Experience managing compliance systems, accreditations or ISO management systems.
- Excellent written English with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Good understanding of commercial construction, tendering processes and framework applications.
- Knowledge of Constructionline, CHAS, SafeContractor and ISO standards would be advantageous.
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office packages.
- Professional, proactive and self-motivated approach.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
