Practice Nurse – Gosport
Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and dedicated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and forward-thinking Integrated Primary Care team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the ongoing development of clinical services.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a wide range of nursing services, including routine clinics, chronic disease management, and health promotion. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will demonstrate a high level of clinical skill, professionalism, and commitment to patient-centred care.
Main Duties of the Job
Working under the direction of the Lead GP and as part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will provide comprehensive nursing services to patients. This includes treatment, screening, advice, and the management of patients with complex and long-term conditions, in line with agreed protocols and Patient Group Directions (PGDs).

Job Description
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver routine nursing clinics including cervical cytology and wound care management
- Provide evidence-based nursing care in line with NICE guidelines and national frameworks
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary meetings
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and information governance
- Prepare and maintain clinical environments and equipment
- Support stock control and ensure availability of clinical supplies
- Support service development and implementation of clinical protocols
- Assist in training and supporting new staff where required
- Work collaboratively within a multi-site, fast-paced environment
- Provide clear handovers and escalate risks or concerns appropriately
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
- Registered General Nurse (RGN)
- Current NMC registration
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Current cervical cytology screener code
- Competency in wound care and dressing techniques
Desirable:
- Venepuncture qualification
- Experience in chronic disease management clinics
- Knowledge of EMIS
Experience
Essential:
- Post-registration experience in primary care or general practice
- Experience working in a patient-facing healthcare environment
- Experience managing clinical workload in a fast-paced setting
Desirable:
- Experience in primary care, urgent care, or community services
- Experience supporting audits or CQC processes
