A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team as a Rural Estate Supervisor, supporting the delivery of a wide range of maintenance and estate activities across both the rural and built estate.
As Rural Estate Supervisor, you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of the Rural Estates Task Schedule across the East Region, making effective use of both in-house teams and specialist contractors to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Typical tasks may include planned and reactive works across the East Region, covering assets such as woodland, health and safety tree zones and individual trees, forestry plantations, tarmac roads, tracks, fencing, public rights of way, bridges and Scheduled Monuments. You will also contribute to the delivery of conservation programmes across Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), the historic environment and forestry harvesting operations.
Main Responsibilities

Lead and support a small team of skilled operatives across the East Region, providing day-to-day supervision, guidance and coaching while promoting high standards of safety, wellbeing and performance.

Coordinate planned, preventative and reactive rural estate maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and within agreed timescales.

Support the delivery of maintenance activities associated with built estate rural assets, assisting colleagues and stakeholders where required.

Identify and organise the resources needed to deliver work programmes, making effective use of in-house teams and external contractors.

Monitor works to ensure compliance with statutory obligations, company procedures and environmental best practice.

Supervise contractors on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

Promote continuous improvement, identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and support initiatives that contribute to cost efficiencies and additional income generation.

Build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective rural estate delivery.

Assist with the planning and delivery of additional works programmes, including Forestry Harvesting and Marketing initiatives and other services identified through forward planning processes.
The Ideal Candidate
-
Ideally qualified to a level 4 in a rural, estate management, forestry or associated discipline.

Practical hands on rural experience, to include plant and machinery use (hold Lantra Tractor and Chainsaw qualifications).

Willingness to undertake required training and professional development.

Good understanding of statutory requirements relating to the natural and historic environment.

A strong team player with a positive, proactive approach.

Strong commitment to Health & Safety and willingness to complete IOSH Managing Safely

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support operational teams.

Able to plan, prioritise and deliver work effectively, often within challenging timescales.

Good IT skills to support the efficient operation of a modern business environment.

Full UK Driving Licence required
