We are seeking an engaging and driven Executive Head Chef to join our growing group of successful gastro pubs, renowned for delivering outstanding fresh food, seasonal menus, and warm hospitality.
This is a truly hands-on leadership role for a talented chef who is passionate about quality ingredients, developing people, and leading service from the kitchen floor. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest culinary standards while working closely with your teams, delivering memorable dining experiences across our sites.
As Executive Head Chef for the Group, reporting directly into the owners, you will have the opportunity to shape menus, mentor future culinary talent, and drive food excellence across a busy, fresh-food-led operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the kitchen team through a hands-on management approach.
- Be actively involved in food preparation, cooking, and service delivery.
- Develop innovative seasonal menus using fresh, high-quality ingredients.
- Ensure exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation across all dishes.
- Recruit, train, develop, and retain a high-performing kitchen team.
- Manage food costs, stock control, purchasing, and labour budgets across all sites.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and local producers.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety compliance.
- Work closely with senior management to drive business performance and guest satisfaction.
- Foster a positive, professional, and supportive kitchen culture.
- Cover sites as required during absences – including weekends.
About You
- Proven experience as a multi-site Head Chef or similar within a gastro pub, premium casual dining, or fresh-food environment.
- A genuine passion for fresh food and quality ingredients.
- Must have led a kitchen or sites that have achieved recognised food awards eg AA Rosettes/Estrella’s Top 100/Michelin guide, industry accolades, or equivalent culinary recognition.
- Demonstrable success in raising food standards and maintaining venues as destination dining locations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop teams.
- Comfortable leading busy services while remaining calm under pressure.
- Commercially aware with experience managing GP, food costs, and labour budgets.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive, energetic, and positive attitude.
- Happier in the kitchen than the office.
