Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/assistant to join our busy culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience within the hospitality industry, particularly in food preparation, cooking, and restaurant settings. Prior experience in a hotel or restaurant environment is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. We are working towards Rosette standard
Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitise dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils efficiently and promptly
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and kitchen equipment to uphold hygiene standards
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
- Support the kitchen team during service periods to ensure timely delivery of meals
- Organise and store clean crockery and utensils appropriately
- Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure recycling procedures are followed
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to maintain a safe working environment
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or working within a restaurant or hotel environment is desirable but not mandatory
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen hygiene standards is advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary processes and hospitality services
- Ability to work flexibly within shift patterns, including evenings or weekends if required
- A positive attitude towards maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in the workplace
