Job Summary
Atlas Arts is looking for enthusiastic and reliable Summer Camp Activity Assistants to support our children’s holiday camps in Harrogate, Ripon and surrounding areas.
This paid, temporary role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and would like experience in holiday camps, childcare, teaching, coaching, performing arts, sport or creative activities.
You will help support children during camp activities, assist with setup and pack-down, encourage participation, and help maintain a safe, positive and engaging environment. Activities may include games, physical activity, creative tasks, performance-based activities, art, storytelling and general camp support.
This role is well suited to someone confident, practical, energetic and good with children.
Responsibilities
- Support lead staff during holiday camp sessions.
- Help children stay safe, engaged and included throughout the day.
- Assist with games, creative activities, physical activities and group tasks.
- Help set up and pack away equipment and activity spaces.
- Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork and confidence.
- Support lunch/snack routines where required.
- Help maintain a calm, organised and child-friendly environment.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour guidance.
- Direct parent questions to the lead staff member or manager where appropriate.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- confident working with children
- reliable, punctual and practical
- positive, energetic and approachable
- able to follow direction from lead staff
- calm and sensible in a busy camp environment
- willing to help with a range of activities
- comfortable helping with setup, pack-down and supervision
Experience in childcare, teaching assistant work, youth work, holiday camps, sport, drama, dance, cheerleading or creative activities is helpful, but not essential for the right person.
Requirements
- Must be suitable to work with children.
- Enhanced DBS preferred, or willingness to complete one.
- Safeguarding training preferred, or willingness to complete training.
- First Aid qualification helpful but not essential.
- Availability during school holidays is required.
- Access to transport around Harrogate / Ripon / nearby areas is helpful.
