Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to support children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs within an educational setting. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and specialised staff to provide tailored assistance to pupils, fostering a positive learning environment. Duties
- Support children with SEMH needs, including those with autism and other disabilities, within classroom activities and behavioural programmes
- Assist in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
- Provide one-to-one support for pupils requiring additional help with learning or social interaction
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment conducive to learning and personal development
- Support children with toddler care routines where applicable, including personal care and emotional reassurance
- Foster effective communication between pupils, teachers, and parents to ensure consistent support
- Assist in organising activities that promote social skills, independence, and emotional regulation
- Monitor pupil progress and report observations to teaching staff for ongoing assessment
Qualifications
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN), SEMH or autism is highly desirable
- Knowledge of working with individuals with disabilities and understanding of behaviour management techniques
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, colleagues, and parents
- Compassionate attitude with patience and resilience in challenging situations
- Relevant qualifications or training in special education or child development are advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic educational environment

Pay: £108.00-£109.00 per day
