Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our nursery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring high standards of childcare, and creating a safe, nurturing environment for children. This role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a genuine passion for early childhood education. The Nursery Manager will play a vital role in fostering a positive atmosphere where children can learn and develop effectively.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise nursery staff, providing guidance and support to ensure effective team performance
- Develop and implement educational programmes aligned with early childhood development standards
- Oversee daily nursery operations, including enrolment, attendance, and health & safety procedures
- Maintain compliance with childcare regulations and organisational policies
- Foster positive relationships with parents and carers, addressing concerns and providing updates on children’s progress
- Organise staff rotas, training sessions, and professional development activities
- Manage nursery budgets and resources efficiently
- Ensure the nursery environment is clean, safe, and stimulating for children’s learning experiences
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the nursery team
Qualifications
- Proven management experience within a nursery or early childhood education setting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide staff effectively
- Extensive knowledge of childcare practices, early childhood education principles, and relevant regulations
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Experience working with children across different age groups and developmental stages
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are essential
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting materials or attending external meetings or training sessions
- Ability to organise workload efficiently whilst maintaining attention to detail
