Swift Temps are recruiting on behalf of a manufacturing client for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team in Peterborough.
This is a hands-on role covering both mechanical and electrical maintenance activities within a busy production environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring plant reliability, responding to breakdowns, and delivering effective Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to minimise downtime and support efficient site operations.
The role requires a strong all-round engineer who is confident fault finding across both mechanical and electrical systems and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out both mechanical and electrical maintenance across site equipment and production machinery
- Responding to breakdowns and carrying out fault finding to minimise downtime
- Diagnosing faults across motors, drives, PLCs, sensors, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and mechanical systems
- Completing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with schedule
- Supporting installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment
- Identifying recurring faults and supporting root cause analysis and reliability improvements
- Working closely with production teams to ensure minimal disruption to operations
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with site procedures including LOTO
What We’re Looking For
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Strong experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment
- Good all-round understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience with PLCs, drives, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across multi-disciplined systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team
- Proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving ability
