Mhor Bakery is an award-winning independent artisan bakery. Our shop, tearoom & bakery is based in the beautiful town of Callander. We pride ourselves on baking the very best “real” artisan bread, pastries and cakes for our shop and wholesale customers. As well baked goods, we offer a range of high-end artisan products, barista coffee, lunch and offer take-away lunches. We aim to deliver exceptional customer service to our loyal & discerning customers.
We are looking for a Full-Time Experienced Cook/Chef who is as excited about great food and drink as we are, and who is passionate about customer service. We have exciting plans to expand our business in the next 12 months.
The role will run a small and friendly kitchen team passionate about good food. The Tearoom offers breakfasts, brunch and fresh food throughout the day. There is scope to be creative with opportunity to experiment with seasonal produce and menus.
You will be an ambassador for the Mhor brand, ensuring that standards remain high and continually looking for ways to improve.
Job Role:
Our cook should be familiar with vegan/veggie food. Everything thing we sell from Sourdough and croissants to soups are already made fresh and from scratch on the premises. We are good at what we do.
Our new cook needs to have strong hygiene discipline and stock management skills. Applicants should have experience working in a similar compact kitchen.
Key areas of responsibility:
Please note, the role is full-time and involves early starts and weekend (and week day) work. Flexibility about working hours and shift patterns will be required.
Candidates for cook/chef role must be able to:
- Run the busy kitchen in accordance with current system and fine tune where necessary
- cook with fresh produce
- Delegate tasks
- Plan and prepare menus using seasonal produce
- Assist the business with creating and trying new seasonal recipes and menus
- Handle stock and wastage control
- Costing
- Food purchasing, ordering and storage
- Keeping the kitchen environment safe and hygienic. ensuring compliance with all legislation
Essential skills:
- Previous experience in high-end artisan bakery/coffee environment required. Minimum 3 years experience
- Excellent knowledge of and enthusiasm for all products, ability to cook with fresh produce and ingredients. A detailed knowledge and understanding of baked goods would be beneficial
- Very good attention to detail
- Experience of producing attractive and creative shop displays and signage
- Good food safety & hygiene practices (Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate)
- Good team work; able to work collaboratively and motivate a team
