JOB TITLE: Quality Assistant
JOB TYPE: Full-time, Permanent, Hourly Paid
HOURS: Hours for the role are 40 each week to be worked 8 hours a day over a 5 day shift pattern, between the hours of 6am & 10pm.
SALARY: Dependent on experience. Overtime available with prior agreement.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assistant to join our team.
This role is key to ensuring our products consistently meet the highest quality, food safety and customer standards. If you have a keen eye for detail, enjoy problem-solving, and are passionate about product quality, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- To focus on product quality, liaising with members of the production team to ensure quality standards are met, and that issues and problems are escalated to facilitate a resolution.
- Monitoring quality issues throughout the whole production process from raw materials, work in progress through to the finished product, ensuring standards are always met.
- Conducting regular quality checks on all running lines to ensure the product quality is in line with specifications and standards.
- Being present at the start of all production runs, to check the ingredients and quality and ensure the correct recipe is being used.
- Conducting start up checks including metal detection calibration and scale calibration.
- Guiding and driving the continuous improvement of product quality and food quality culture.
- Managing internal taste panel and shelf-life sample assessments.
- Tracking and trending all quality controls.
- Labelling products accurately and transferring them to the WIP store in a timely manner.
- Contributing to the creation of quality standards, reporting where they’re not being met and issuing updates. Also, ensuring that GMP standards are continuously maintained.
- Attending NPD handovers.
- Assisting the preparation of external and internal audits including ensuring QA documentation and resources are always ready. This could include the undertaking of internal audits by completing traceability/mass balance exercises.
- Assisting in quality complaint investigations, holds and product concessions.
- Participating in internal meetings, training and staff development when required.
About You
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working in a food quality setting.
- Level 2 or above in food safety.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High attention to detail while being methodical and logical
- A starter-finisher approach to tasks
- Ability to work independently as well as being an approachable member of the technical team.
- Ability to maintain confidential information about the business, particularly new products.
- Time management is crucial to ensure target rates are always hit
- Ability to use Microsoft 365 efficiently and to learn any new IT systems

- Internal auditing qualifications
