Overview
We are seeking a respectful and reliable individual to join Harwood Park Crematorium as a Chapel Attendant and Cremator Technician.
This role involves supporting funeral services, operating cremation equipment, assisting visitors and ensuring high standards of care and professionalism.
The successful candidate will play a vital part in providing dignified services and supporting families during difficult times. This role is open to trainees, however prior experience in handling heavy equipment and a respectful demeanour are essential for this position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the chapel for services, ensuring a respectful environment at all times.
- Assist families with arrangements and provide support throughout the service process.
- Operate cremation machinery in accordance with safety standards and procedural guidelines.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on cremation equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
- Handle heavy lifting of caskets, urns, and related materials safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the chapel and cremation area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Document all procedures accurately, maintaining detailed records of cremations performed.
- Support bereaved families with compassion, offering guidance as needed during their time of loss.
Qualifications

- Previous experience in operating cremation equipment or similar machinery is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, demonstrating physical strength and stamina.

- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a sensitive environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or holidays if necessary.
Pay: £24,420.00-£47,164.70 per year
