Job Summary:
The Facilities Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the Welland site by coordinating facilities contracts, managing subcontractors, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the workplace. The role supports continuous improvement initiatives through the identification of opportunities, development of project proposals, and delivery of capital expenditure projects. Working closely with colleagues and external partners, the Facilities Engineer provides professional support and guidance to ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible working environment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Always Ensure full compliance with the Company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and personal accountability.
- Take responsibility for the hands-on maintenance, upkeep, and continuous improvement of the Welland Medical manufacturing facility.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of existing and prospective subcontractors working on-site, ensuring all work is completed safely and to the required standards.
- Review, manage, and approve all relevant safety documentation, including Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), as well as site-specific risk assessments associated with facility works.
- Support the management of the Facilities budget by monitoring expenditure, communicating performance, and ensuring cost-effective delivery of maintenance and improvement activities.
- Carry out facility maintenance activities in line with current and proposed environmental policies and sustainability objectives.
- Lead and project manage facilities-related works from initial concept and planning stages through to successful completion.
- Prepare, manage, and deliver minor capital expenditure projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Work closely with the Facilities & HSE Manager and Engineering team to maintain high standards of building maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency.
- Manage and maintain site fire protection and security systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company standards.
- Liaise with utility providers and external stakeholders regarding site inspections, maintenance activities, and service requirements.
- Coordinate and manage statutory inspections and periodic examinations for pressure systems, lifting equipment, and other safety-critical assets, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
Personal Specifications:
Essential:
- Fully trained and experienced in a facilities-based environment.
- Minimum of three years' experience working on facilities-related projects.
- Good knowledge of safe working practices, including RAMS.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Flexible, reliable, and professional in approach.
Desirable:
- Previous Facilities Management experience.
- Knowledge of fire safety and security systems.
- Understanding of environmental management practices.
- Experience of managing contractors and site-based projects.
- Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements within Facilities Management.
