About the role:
In the role of a residential support worker no two days will ever look the same. Your main role will be to act as a therapeutic parent to looked after children. This could include assisting in school runs, helping to maintain a home environment and providing emotional support to our young people. Some days will be harder than others, but we can promise everyday will be rewarding!
- Supporting children with daily routines—school, meals, homework, activities.
- Use a trauma-informed approach to help them feel safe, understood, and valued.
- Help young people manage their emotions and behaviours in a positive, respectful way.
- Working as part of a close-knit team to give children the best care possible
- Keeping the home tidy, safe, and a place to be proud of.
- Writing reports and logs to help keep things running smoothly and safely.
About you:
Ideally, we are looking for people who can be a calm, steady and above all consistent presence in the young peoples lives. You will need to show your resilience and compassion in everything you do. This is a role that requires someone who understands this is more than job, it’s about creating a secure environment for young people to thrive.
Requirements:
- No formal experience is required, but an understanding of the sector would be desirable.
- Willingness to undertake training and full funded qualifications.
- A full UK driving licence and be over the age of 21 (Essential)
- Willingness to work 11 day shifts (8am–11pm) per month, and 7–10 sleep-ins.
