Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate kitchen assistant/commis chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and preparation of locally sourced ingredients, along with excellent communication and team skills. This role is essential in supporting the Head Chef and team in delivering high-quality dishes while ensuring food safety and maintaining a harmonious brand new kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking.
- Assist kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow.
- Help manage inventory, including ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels.
- Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
- Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a culinary role, preferably as a commis or similar position. (preferred but not essential)
- Strong knowledge of food production techniques and culinary practices.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional dining experiences.
