SENNIES is delighted to support a warm, thoughtful and well-supported family in Islington, North London, in their search for two exceptional SEN professionals to join their household. The family are caring for two intelligent and engaging neurodivergent boys — B12 and B6 — and are seeking individuals who truly understand neurodivergent nervous systems and value connection, co-regulation and trust-building above all else.
Both boys are primarily home-based and require calm, emotionally attuned adults who can build relationships gradually through a low demand, relationship-led approach. These are highly rewarding roles for experienced professionals who are grounded, patient and genuinely motivated by making a meaningful difference within a family that is deeply engaged in their children's wellbeing.
The family are looking for two Sennies to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. A respectful, team-oriented approach is essential. The family offers a long-term opportunity with consistency, stability and excellent rates of pay dependent on experience.
About the children:
B12 is a bright, kind and thoughtful young person who is Autistic with a PDA profile, significant anxiety, low self-esteem and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). He is incredibly intelligent and, while he can mask his struggles well, social situations and everyday demands can be genuinely overwhelming for him. He was home-educated after experiencing burnout in 2022, which has helped him feel more secure, but he requires consistent, daily support to manage his emotions and build his confidence over time.
B12 has specific needs around sensory integration and co-regulation, particularly during activities like gaming — which he uses as a valued form of relaxation and regulation. He needs a Sennie who can be present in a way that feels non-intrusive and supportive, helping him navigate moments of overwhelm without imposing demands. He loves to "info dump" — sharing detailed information about topics he is passionate about — and responds beautifully to someone who is genuinely interested and engaged. The goal is not to change B12's routines or habits, but to help him feel safe, respected and in control.
B6 is a delightful, energetic and cheerful little boy who brings enormous joy to the family. He loves chatting, maths and music, and is always eager to explore and learn. He used to enjoy outdoor spaces and physical activity, but he has since undergone a period of EBSA and burn out and currently struggles to go anywhere except the back garden. Both boys will be cared for by both SENNIES. They will need to work together and minimise competition over their time and attention between the boys (equalising) which may result in meltdowns/conflict.
