Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and dynamic Community Engagement Assistant to support our organisation’s processes, outreach and community programmes. This part-time paid position is based at our Wellbeing Centre in Sidford (Sidmouth) and offers an exciting opportunity to develop skills in project management while making a positive impact within the community.
Working Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Office based (Sidford EX10 9RL). Some flexibility with working times, but with need to meet core requirements along with a number of evening and weekend events across the course of each year.
As a brand-new role, the Community Engagement Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Head of Community Engagement with administration of the Charity CRM Database (Beacon) and the related Fundraising and Finance administrative functions. They will also be responsible for the organisation, promotion and successful delivery of a number of fundraising events and campaigns, to maximise income for the charity and to raise and maintain its positive public profile, whilst cultivating existing and new donor and community relationships for the charity in the process.
Success in the Community Engagement Assistant role will be directly measured by the ability to meet and exceed clear, and achievable, financial goals in relation to these charity events.
This is a crucial role for the Charity, creating efficiencies to free up the functions of the Head of Community Engagement to effectively manage and deliver their factors to full potential. Importantly, it also offers the rewards of real achievement in terms of offering a great experience for event attendees, and the more subtle but significant reward for the successful applicant, of raising funds that will ensure the invaluable support of our specialist hospice service for patients and loved ones when they need us most.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Accurately maintain the Fundraising CRM database (CRM)
- Collection of community donations
- Entering income stream data onto CRM database (Beacon)
- Efficiently supporting with the related Admin tasks
- Creating online giving reports via external income platforms
- End-to-end planning, delivery and evaluation of fundraising events
- Ensuring that all events and campaigns meet with required standards
- Building positive relationships with participants and partners
Essentials
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in administrative tasks
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- A calm, professional manner with excellent telephone and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work alongside and liaise with a variety of colleagues and contacts
- Competent user of relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Beacon, Canva
- Strong team player
- High level of professionalism, and able to demonstrate discretion in dealing with sensitive issues and confidential matters
- Effective time management skills with the ability to organise your own varied workload
- A Flexible and adaptable approach to work (eg ability and willingness to attend events at evenings and weekends, where appropriate)
- Full UK drivers’ licence and access to own vehicle is essential
Desirable
- Events and/or fundraising background
- Experience of administration and office organisation
- Ability to plan and develop efficient and effective systems
