Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organised Legal Assistant specialising in Childcare and Private Family law. Duties
- Perform audio typing of legal documents, correspondence, and reports with accuracy and efficiency
- Manage and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and properly organised
- Assist with preparation of legal documents using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates while maintaining effective communication with clients and colleagues
- Draft and proofread correspondence to clients, courts, and other relevant parties
- Support the legal team with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and record keeping
- Handle incoming calls professionally, directing enquiries appropriately and providing excellent client service
- Utilise IT skills to manage case management systems and other legal software programmes effectively
Experience
- Previous administrative experience within a legal environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for specific tasks
- Proficiency in audio typing with high accuracy levels
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with IT systems used within legal practices
- Demonstrated time management skills to handle multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a busy legal setting
