Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking groundworks operatives to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various tasks related to groundwork, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety on site.
About Ashlea Developments and the role
Ashlea Developments (York) Ltd. is a family owned and operated business which undertakes a range of groundworks, landscaping and civil engineering works, mainly in the commercial sector. The projects that we are involved with are often unusual and far from the norms of new build housing developments, whether it be the construction of padel courts and 3G sports pitches, to the creation of play areas in award-winning private schools, complete with skate park, climbing walls, multi use games area, padel court, and associated landscaping. Many of the projects that we undertake are with long-term customers who trust us to deliver many of the projects as a full-turnkey service.
Ashlea Developments has built a reputation for providing specialist services in sports pitch/facility construction, underpinning and stabilisation of historic structures, installation and maintenance of large pumping and wastewater treatment plants, providing specialist surfacing and ancillary works to a number of industries including education/schools, parish councils, sports facilities and domestic clients, installation of large, commercial-scale playgrounds, along with general landscaping, drainage installation, paving, fencing and earthworks to the domestic, commercial, sports and educational sectors.
Life at Ashlea Developments is varied and we require team players. In this role, you will be part of a 2 or 3 man team, although you will often work on projects with multiple teams (both Ashlea Developments teams, as well as our customers teams and specialist contractors). You will be expected to have good industry knowledge to be able to lead your small team (made up of trainees/apprentices or labourers), as well as being able to work together with other teams. This role requires a hands-on approach in all weathers; although experience in the operation of excavators and other plant is involved in the role, we require more than a plant-operator.
We like to keep and grow together with our staff, and encourage training and further knowledge building (each member of staff has a bespoke training matrix and plan), and we prefer to promote from within the company where possible. Due to the type of sectors that we operate within, we require staff to be polite, professional, personable and uphold high standards of quality. Professionalism, accountability and quality are key to us.
Our operate across Yorkshire and further afield with many long-term clients who we undertake work for nationwide, so some working away will be required. Additional pay and expenses are paid when working away (please see below for details).
