Are you looking to start your career in finance, or already have some experience and want a role where you can really get stuck in? We're looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our finance team, supporting the day-to-day accounting and administrative operations across our business, including our self-storage and farming divisions.
This is a varied, hands-on role — perfect for someone who's either studying (or keen to study) AAT, or already has accounts experience and wants to broaden their skills across multiple systems and companies. You'll get exposure to bank reconciliations, purchase and sales ledgers, VAT returns, credit control and more, with plenty of support along the way.
What You'll Be Doing
- Processing supplier invoices and payments, and importing these into our accounting systems (Sage, Xero)
- Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Preparing and posting journals
- Reconciling supplier statements and credit card transactions
- Running monthly supplier payment runs and sending remittances
- Assisting with credit control and chasing outstanding debts
- Processing customer refunds and recharge invoices
- Preparing monthly VAT returns
- Managing shared accounts inboxes and responding to queries
- Supporting month-end reporting, budgeting and year-end processes
- Maintaining accurate customer and supplier records
- General administrative support — filing, correspondence, and printing
What We're Looking For
- AAT qualified, part-qualified, or keen to start studying — we welcome candidates at the start of their finance career as well as those with existing experience
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Well organised, with good time management skills
- Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Patient, diligent, and a good problem-solver
- Confident using computer systems — experience with Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software is a bonus but not essential
