ISQ Recruitment is recruiting for an Engineering Shift Supervisor with an electrical bias to join a growing food manufacturing business in Stockton-on-Tees.
This is a good opportunity for an electrically biased Engineering Shift Supervisor, Lead Engineer or Senior Maintenance Engineer who wants a hands-on leadership role within a well-invested manufacturing site. The role offers overtime, weekly pay, no bank holiday working and the chance to support machinery upgrades, automation projects and continuous improvement activity.
The site is continuing to invest in production equipment, automation and engineering capability, making this a strong long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys leading a team while remaining actively involved in fault finding, maintenance and site improvements.
The Role
As Engineering Shift Supervisor, you will lead and support the engineering team on shift, ensuring maintenance activity is prioritised, completed safely and aligned with production requirements.
Duties will include:
- Leading and supporting the shift engineering team
- Prioritising breakdowns, planned maintenance and shift engineering activity
- Carrying out electrical and mechanical fault finding across production machinery
- Responding to breakdowns to reduce downtime and maintain production output
- Supporting planned preventative maintenance schedules
- Working closely with production teams to improve machinery performance and reliability
- Supporting machinery installations, upgrades and automation projects
- Maintaining engineering records, breakdown reports and shift handovers
- Ensuring engineering, hygiene and food safety standards are maintained
- Promoting safe working practices across the engineering team
About You
The role would suit someone with experience as an Engineering Shift Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Team Leader, Lead Engineer or Senior Maintenance Engineer within food manufacturing.
You will need:
- Electrical bias with strong fault-finding ability
- Previous leadership, supervisory or team lead experience within engineering or maintenance
- UK food manufacturing experience
- Strong experience with breakdown response and planned maintenance
- Good mechanical maintenance ability
- Experience working on production machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to remain hands-on while leading a shift team
- A practical approach to problem solving, safety and team support
- Ability to work rotating weekly shifts, including Sunday to Thursday nights
Qualifications
- Level 3 NVQ, apprenticeship, BTEC or equivalent in Engineering
- Additional training such as FLT, scissor lift, IOSH or machinery-specific training would be beneficial
