Part-Time Contract
Shipley, West Yorkshire | 2–3 Days Per Week | Outside IR35 | £450 - £550 per day
A specialist precision engineering business based in West Yorkshire is looking for an experienced Aerospace Production Engineer on a part-time contract basis to support a busy team.
This is a genuinely flexible engagement — 2 to 3 days per week on-site — making it ideal for an experienced engineer looking for contract work alongside other commitments, or someone moving into freelance consultancy.
The Role
You'll be supporting and improving manufacturing processes for aerospace components and assemblies in a high-reliability, AS9100-compliant environment. The work spans process optimisation, production support, NPI, and continuous improvement.
- Developing and optimising manufacturing processes for aerospace components and assemblies
- Providing hands-on technical support to production teams to resolve issues and improve yield
- Creating and maintaining work instructions, routings, manufacturing plans and process documentation
- Supporting NPI production readiness including tooling, fixtures and validation
- Conducting root cause analysis and implementing CAPA
- Collaborating with design engineering on DFM/DFA
- Ensuring compliance with AS9100, FAA and EASA requirements
What You'll Need
- Proven experience in aerospace - essential
- Strong knowledge of core quality tools — PFMEA, PFD, Control Plans, PPAP/FAIR and APQP
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and specifications
- Hands-on knowledge of metallic forming processes — stainless steel, spot welding, riveting or similar
- AS9100 experience essential
- Lean/Six Sigma knowledge advantageous
- Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
