The Role
We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper / Accountant to join BuildUp as an external contractor and support our fast growing property development business.
This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple projects and entities, ensuring compliance, supporting decision making, and helping to build robust financial processes as the business scales.
You will work closely with senior management and other external advisors and play a key role in keeping the financial engine of the business running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Day to day bookkeeping across multiple property development projects and entities
- Maintaining accurate ledgers, reconciliations and financial records
- Managing accounts payable and receivable
- Bank, loan and development cost reconciliations
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Monitoring cash flow and project spend against budgets
- Supporting VAT returns including property specific VAT considerations
- Liaising with external accountants, tax advisors and lenders as required
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and UK regulations
- Supporting process improvement as the business continues to scale
- Proven experience working with Stripe and Whop as payment processors, including managing the associated bookkeeping, reconciling transactions and payouts, recording processing fees and refunds, and ensuring accurate financial records.
About You
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Accountant, ideally within property development, construction or real estate
- Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and VAT
- Comfortable working across multiple projects with varying structures
- Highly organised, detail driven and reliable
- Confident working independently as an external contractor
- Proactive mindset, spotting issues early and suggesting improvements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with non finance stakeholders
