I’m working with a well-established engineering business in Birmingham that’s looking to bring in an Electrical Design Engineer to support their growing workload.
They’re open to speaking with engineers who are confident in their design capability and want a role where they can stay hands-on, take ownership, and see projects through from concept to manufacture.

What you’ll be doing
- Producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams & BOMs (EPLAN / SolidWorks Electrical)
- Supporting design substantiation (calculations, test plans, component selection)
- Ensuring designs meet technical, safety & legislative requirements
- Contributing to design reviews and validation activities (FMEA etc.)
- Working closely with mechanical engineers and production teams
- Producing documentation to support customer approvals
What they’re looking for
- Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in defence, aerospace, marine, or similar regulated industries is beneficial
- Background in:
- Electrical / power system design
- Control & instrumentation
- PLCs (TIA Portal), ProfiBus / ProfiNet
- Drives, motor control, distribution systems
- Exposure to safety, compliance, or FMEA activities
- Any experience with EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or NI / LabVIEW is a plus
Working pattern
- 37 hours per week
- Mon–Thurs: 07:30 – 16:00
- Fri: 07:30 – 12:30 (early finish)
- Flexible start between 06:30 – 08:30
- Primarily site-based, with limited flexibility for occasional WFH
