Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated, compassionate, and resilient Care Assistants to join our friendly and professional care team in Hull.
You will be working on a 2:1 basis supporting an older gentleman who has sustained a brain injury resulting in cognitive impairment. He experiences difficulties with memory, communication, emotional regulation, and daily living tasks. He has a small family network, who may be involved at times, making clear communication and consistent, person-centred support essential.

Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Support with daily routines, including meal preparation, household tasks, and medication (where required).
- Provide structured and consistent support tailored to cognitive impairment following brain injury.
- Encourage independence, choice, and positive engagement wherever possible.
- Maintain a calm, patient, and reassuring approach, particularly during periods of confusion, anxiety, or distress.
- Engage him in meaningful and therapeutic activities that promote wellbeing, routine, and confidence.
- Maintain accurate daily records and reports, ensuring effective communication within the care team.
- Follow individual care and support plans and contribute to reviews and updates.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and his small family network to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
- Promote dignity, respect, and professional boundaries at all times.
Working Hours
- 10:00am – 8:00pm
- Full-time hours delivered through a consistent 2-week rolling rota
- 2:1 staffing at all times
Skills / Desirable Experience
- Compassionate, patient, and understanding
- Experience supporting individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI), neurological conditions, dementia, or cognitive impairment (desirable)
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support (PBS) approaches
- Understanding of de-escalation techniques and managing distress or challenging situations
- Relevant care qualifications (e.g. Care Certificate, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care) – not essential, as full training will be provided
- Reliable, flexible, and trustworthy
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
