We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and flexible Clinical lead to join our team at our nursing home in Hempstead, Gillingham, Kent. Whether we're providing long or short-term, convalescence, respite or palliative care, our focus is on providing the highest quality service at all times.
Shifts are Monday to Friday 7am to 14.30pm. (35 hour paid contract) Please note that all breaks are unpaid.

Reports to: Deputy Manager/ Home Manager
Working closely with: Head of Care, Clinical Team, Compliance Manager, Safeguarding Lead
Direct reports: Nurses, Senior Carers, Care Staff (as delegated)
Purpose of the Role
The Clinical Lead plays a key role in ensuring the consistent delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care at Heatherdale Nursing Home. This role focuses on hands-on clinical support, monitoring care quality through walk rounds and audits, developing staff competence, and supporting the Head of Care and Home Manager in maintaining compliance with CQC and organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Clinical Oversight
- Conduct daily walk rounds across all units to monitor standards of care, resident well-being, staff practice, and environmental safety.
- Support care plan writing, revision, and reviews, ensuring all residents have up-to-date, person-centred, and evidence-based care documentation.
· Lead on the completion of care plans for new residents within 72 hours of admission.
- Participate in and contribute to staff meetings (minimum every 3 months) and ensure action points are followed through.
- Support the completion of actions identified in the Manager’s monthly audits, ensuring improvements are implemented and evidenced.
Staff Development & Supervision
- Facilitate group supervision sessions to support reflection, professional growth, and consistent best practice.
- Oversee and assess Moving and Handling competencies, ensuring compliance with current legislation, equipment use, and training requirements.
- Support the Head of Care in monitoring competency frameworks and ensuring supervision trackers are up to date.
- Encourage positive teamwork, communication, and accountability across all staff levels.
Clinical Support & Documentation
- Assist and coach nurses and senior carers in developing personalised PRN protocols that are clinically appropriate, person-centred, and regularly reviewed.
- Provide feedback and guidance during medication or care documentation checks, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with the Mental Capacity Act.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in projects and research initiatives aimed at improving resident outcomes, staff engagement, and quality of care.
KPIs & Success Measures
- Daily walk rounds completed and documented.
- Care plans 100% up to date and person-centred.
- Timely and accurate completion of DoLS and MCA documentation.
- Group supervision completion within required frequency.
- All moving & handling competencies current and evidenced.
- “Resident of the Day” process completed and reviewed for all residents.
- Action plans from audits closed within agreed timescales.
- Improvement in quality survey outcomes and audit results.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Essential
- Proven understanding of CQC Fundamental Standards, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, and person-centred care.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident in leading audits, writing reports, and delivering feedback.
- Skilled in staff training, supervision, and competency assessment.
