Teaching Assistant (Year 1 SEN Support)

£93 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
We are seeking a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school from September 2026.
This full-time role will involve working within a Year 1 classroom, providing 1:1 support for a pupil with mild Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the child access learning, develop independence, and thrive socially and emotionally within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with autism.
- Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and completing classroom activities.
- Support the pupil's social and emotional development, helping them build positive relationships with their peers.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies and interventions that meet the child's individual needs.
- Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
- Support the wider classroom environment when appropriate.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within a school setting.
- Has an understanding of autism and the strategies that support pupils with additional needs.
- Is patient, nurturing and able to build positive relationships with children.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is committed to supporting every child to achieve their full potential.
