Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paint Sprayer to join our upgrade team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying paint and coatings to various surfaces with precision and efficiency, ensuring high-quality finishes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in fabrication or construction painting, to utilise their technical skills in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the painting equipment
- Repair the bodywork of the machine or vehicle by filling, sanding and smoothing surfaces
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning and masking as necessary
- Cover all areas that are not being painted.
- Operate spray guns and other power tools to apply paint or coatings uniformly
- Mix paints and coatings ensuring the correct colour and consistency
- Apply the appropriate number of coats to the machine to include primer, colour and protective finish
- Inspect finished work for quality, consistency, and adherence to safety standards
- Maintain and clean equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance
- Store paints in the correct conditions
- Follow safety procedures diligently, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support other team members with tasks you are trained and competent to undertake.
Essential Skills and Experiences
- Experience of body repair and paint spraying of plant equipment
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to ensure high-quality finishes
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to operating spray equipment and related machinery
- Concentration and co-ordination
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment while adhering to health and safety regulations
- Understanding of the hazards of working with acids and harsh chemicals
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Desirable Skills:
- NVQ in vehicle body and paint operations
- NVQ in vehicle body repair
