Not every English lesson is about books.
Sometimes it's about confidence.
Sometimes it's about finding a voice.
Sometimes it's about helping a student discover the power of their own ideas and realise they are capable of more than they ever imagined.
At this outstanding independent school in Abingdon, English is viewed as something far greater than a curriculum subject. It is a gateway to creativity, critical thinking, communication and personal development.
This is a school where students are encouraged to question, explore, debate and develop a lifelong appreciation for language and literature. Whether they are analysing great works of fiction, crafting their own writing, performing ideas through discussion and presentation, or preparing for academic success, English plays a central role in shaping thoughtful, articulate and ambitious young people.
As the school continues to invest in its thriving English department, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate English Teacher to join the team from September 2026.
What Makes This Opportunity Different?
