Express Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a rapidly growing manufacturer who are seeking to recruit and Operations Manager to function at a Senior level. Due to continued growth throughout their brand-new facilities, our client is seeking the addition of an experienced Operations Manager with proven experience of working in the manufacturing sector, ideally within machinery production or similar industries.
The successful candidate will take full ownership of an existing workshop team, purchasing department as well as other administrative staff, whilst helping to drive continuous improvement, enhance supplier relationships through delivery of products on time ensuring safety, cost and quality standards are always upheld.
In return, they are offering a competitive salary of up to c£58,000 per annum D.O.E alongside a generous benefits packaged including a pension scheme, flexi-time, 25 days holiday + stats, non-contractual bonus scheme and death in service pay (x2 salary).
You will be contracted to 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Furthermore, you will benefit from flexible start/finish times, with potential for 1pm finish on Fridays (6 hour working day).
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead a multi-disciplinary operational team, creating a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.
- Take ownership of operational delivery, ensuring customer commitments and business objectives are achieved consistently.
- Monitor operational performance through key metrics, identifying trends and implementing initiatives to improve efficiency, quality and profitability.
- Work collaboratively with technical, commercial and support functions to remove barriers, resolve challenges and maintain smooth project delivery.
- Drive process improvement activities, introducing best practice methods to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources and operational expenditure to maximise value and support business growth.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment and succession activities, ensuring teams have the skills and resources required for future demand.
- Champion a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a senior operations, production or manufacturing leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage teams, develop people and drive operational performance improvements.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience monitoring costs, productivity and operational KPIs.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing stakeholders at all levels of a business.
- Experience implementing process improvements within a fast-paced operational environment.
- Sound understanding of quality standards, compliance requirements and health and safety best practice.
- Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confident using business systems and Microsoft Office applications to analyse data and report performance.
