The school boasts a brilliant community ethos, modern facilities, and an incredibly supportive leadership team committed to fostering staff progression and minimizing workload pressure. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, academically rigorous Economics lessons across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (including GCSE and A-Level specifications).
- Under the TLR framework: Lead on the curriculum development, tracking, and implementation of resources for a designated key stage or course pathway within the department.
- Deconstruct complex macro and microeconomic models, global trade concepts, and financial market principles to make them accessible and engaging for all learners.
- Track, assess, and record pupil attainment data across the department, using formative and summative metrics to provide high-quality feedback and execute targeted exam-preparation workshops.
- Employ adaptive teaching frameworks and scaffolded learning plans to challenge high-attaining pupils while providing total accessibility for SEND and EAL cohorts.
- Collaborate actively within the departmental team to share best practices, mentor Early Career Teachers (ECTs) or trainees, and contribute to extra-curricular enterprise or finance initiatives.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, alongside a degree in Economics, Finance, Business Studies, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: A proven track record of teaching economics within a UK secondary school or sixth form setting, with demonstrated readiness or previous experience in a leadership or coordination capacity.
- Skills: Strong current subject knowledge up to A-Level, confident classroom management strategies, the ability to interpret data to drive department-wide outcomes, and a passion for linking economic theory seamlessly to real-world global events.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
